Anger over Vance 'random country' peacekeeping remark

US Vice President JD Vance's comments dismissing the potential contribution of a peacekeeping force to Ukraine as inferior to economic incentives have sparked outrage in the UK. Vance suggested that an American economic stake in Ukraine's future was a "better security guarantee than 20,000 troops from some random country that hasn't fought a war in 30 or 40 years." This remark, made while the US paused military aid to Ukraine following a tense meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky, was directed at unspecified countries, but interpreted by many as a slight against the UK and France, both of whom have offered to contribute troops to a potential peacekeeping force.

The UK's political landscape reacted swiftly and strongly. Opposition politicians from various parties condemned Vance's statement as deeply disrespectful to British armed forces, citing their significant involvement alongside US troops in conflicts such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Conservative shadow defence secretary James Cartlidge highlighted the UK and France's joint efforts in Afghanistan, emphasizing the disrespect inherent in ignoring such contributions and sacrifices. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, while attempting to downplay the controversy, failed to alleviate the growing anger. Other prominent figures, including Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and Liberal Democrat defence spokesperson Helen Maguire (a former Royal Military Police captain), echoed the criticism, with Maguire urging the UK ambassador to demand an apology. Conservative MP Ben Obese-Jecty, a former British Army officer, called the remarks "unacceptable" and demanded clarification and an apology from Vance.

While Vance later clarified that he hadn't specifically mentioned the UK or France and acknowledged their past service, he didn't specify which countries he was referring to, leaving the criticism largely unaddressed. Downing Street, while praising British troops' service, avoided direct comment on Vance's remarks. The controversy underscores the strained relationship between the US and UK amidst shifting geopolitical alliances and differing approaches to the Ukraine conflict. The incident highlights the sensitive issue of military contributions and the potential for diplomatic friction over perceived slights against allied nations.

A night I was a lone home

The night I was a lone at home, the sky looked very dark, I can see no stars and no moon, The was covered by the black cloud and the wind blew heavily and it made a terrible sound of the big leafy mango tree near my window room, the sound made me sleepless and frighten, I tried to dose my eyes but I was still awake then I went to the kitchen to drink water. It was very dark and very quiet that night. Suddenly, I a noise from the back door. My legs and my hands to shake and then the sound was louder. Now my body shook all over but I tried to hide behind the cub board. Immediately, I found that it wasn't a ghost, I knew it was burglars. They tried to break the door. I went to my room immediately and call the police. When the police arrived, the burglars had gone away. The burglars stole everything in the dining room. Few days later, the burglars were caught thle police. In short, whenever you are alone, you should lock the doors carefully.
